Thanksgiving

Mom and Bradyn looking at helicopters.

An awesome biker at the Bikers on Parade event in Gainesville, to benefit vets.

We've been busy also! Holy crap how things can get sometimes. I saw Matt updated his blog, so it's inspired me to update ours as well. A few things have happened, and anyone who reads this blog knows I don't sugar coat much, (except maybe the size of my member).

So, we were counting on a subsidy to assist us in paying for daycare early this month. The county told Jeanann we would qualify for something like $100 a week to offset the cost of daycare, or more. The place we put our kids was almost $400 a week, a little more than we could handle. The first week of November, we didn't get it due to paperwork. The next week, we were denied based on like $100 a month too much income. BAH!!!

Medium story really short... we were kinda in a pickle, and had to pull the kids from daycare. Turns out this wouldn't have been a bad thing, our schedules needed only a little tweaking to allow us to be able to watch em, and we'd save a ton of money.

That's when we got a letter from the VA about my school benefits. There's a paperwork error at the VA. I was accepted to UF from a community college, last minute, and at UF I submitted paperwork for attending 3/4 time first, and then full time (12 units).

It'll bore everyone to death to try to explain what went on, so let me sum it up. I should be collecting my 2k per month income every month until next year, but they f-ed up and think I'm not in school. So the payments over the last few months were an error (according to them) and I now owe the Govt like 6k.

It should be an easy fix since I'm in school, and work at the schools VA office. But it's the govt. I sat on the phone with the VA home office, who saw the mistake, understood the problem, and told me he couldn't fix it for 3 months, where for those 3 months my pay will be cut off, and govt bill collectors will be calling.

I hope this is a lesson for any of you who support govt health care, that's another argument I'd love to have, as I sit here with my knee pain, which the govt never accepted had a problem, until I was able to get an MRI with my wife's private insurance, which showed a bunch of damage...

So, we're looking to move out into a cheaper place until the money gets fixed, and it eventually will. Any reserves we had was spent on out of state tuition which is almost paid off. Our landlord is in India, so we haven't been able to get ahold of him yet.

Good news is, as of now I still have straight A's, there's only like 3 weeks left of school. We should be able to find a cheaper place, which will help us in the long run. I will get paid everything I'm owed, which will be nice when it comes in in a few months.... just have to wait... on the govt... if I become president of the world, I'll force the govt to recognize the time value of money.
Until I'm paid though, no partys. The 'no partys' comment is an inside joke. We saw some wife swap where the wife banned the husband from partying, so he wrote a banner and put it on the garage. Now when we do our monthly budget, I write it across the budget whenever we're having a not so fun month.

Halloween

mmm pretzels.

He was a little scared.
CFO Sink, candidate for FL Governor, Democrat.
Jim Brody, A nice guy and hell of a host. He was great.
VP CVS, Santa Fe College, Admiral Collins, his wife, and I.
A bit before Halloween, a few veterans I work with from UF and Santa Fe Community College, Some Collegiate Veterans Society folks had a chance to go to Tallahasee to accept a proclamation from Gov Crist, and Chief Financial Officer Sink. (probably Spelling errors in there) It was pretty cool. We were hosted by Jim Brodie, who works under Admiral Collins at the Veterans Affairs office for the state of FL.
It was pretty neat. They wanted to recognize the younger generation of veterans, and stated they realize there will need to be shift of focus from previous generations of veterans to include the new generation.
It was Halloween. Bradyn was a dinosaur/lizard/gator. Brylee was a cat. We went around the block. Bradyn was a little scared, but it was fun. It was the first time we ever let him have more than a piece of candy, he had a few and loved it.
Jeanann started a new work schedule. Tue-Sat 3-11pm. She's getting used to the change. I'm happy we'll have sundays together at least, it's one more day together than we used to have.
We started both the kids at a new daycare on UF Campus. It's a nice place, they seem to be enjoying it. It's a little more pricey, but not much. We both like the staff and schedule a little better.0
Here are some pics and a video. We're both busy keeping up with school, work, kids, and veterans issues which I'm trying to get involved with. I'll post more as things start happening.
